music - my passion
Since my very early days music—as well as audio and the accompanying technologies—has inspired and driven me. Thanks to the enduring motivation and support of my parents, I was educated in classical accordion, jazz organ, electronic music and audio engineering. Armed with this education and several years of keyboard playing, I was well prepared to lead my first semi-professional band at the age of 16.
Next to my traditional studies, I continued my music and audio education by way of evening courses and seminars such as Sound Seminar, and by working as an assistant in numerous recording and mixing sessions, learning the ropes of audio engineering in various recording studios and in live sound situations.
I continued my musical career after my Business Economy studies, working as a professional keyboardist in various formations such as "Time Out" and "Apart", which accompanied several renowned artists, i.e. Randy Crawford, Boney M. and many others.
Intrigued by computers and music and audio technologies such as MIDI, digital audio and synthesizer sound design, I set up and operated a recording studio in the Netherlands in the mid eighties, Digital Sound Studio, where I had the pleasure of participating in a great number of major music productions over the years.
Although I opted to no longer pursue a professional career in music and audio in 1989, the passion never subsided. I not only chose a professional path in the pro audio industry with companies like AEG, Digidesign and BEHRINGER, but also remained active in music, working with several artists and on numerous recordings over the years. I was also able to pursue my related passion for theatre and cabaret, working as an amateur songwriter/arranger and musician for many years.
